
Ankura, derived from the Sanskrit word meaning "to sprout," embodies the school's mission to nurture aspiring bharatanatyam dancers, guiding them to blossom into skilled practitioners committed to preserving and advancing the art form.
Founded by Lakshmi Srinivasan in 2012, Ankura is a community-based performing arts school dedicated to promoting the rich cultural heritage of South Asia across the globe. The school offers rigorous Bharatanatyam training of the highest standard, empowering dedicated learners to develop their own artistic expression and individuality through dance.
Ankura warmly embraces students of all ages, abilities, and diverse cultural backgrounds. Actively engaged in the local arts community, the school has taken part in various nationally funded projects, community events, and cultural festivals, showcasing the richness of South Asian performing arts both locally and beyond.

Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing
Ankura currently offers Bharatanatyam training to children and young adults, ranging from beginner to advanced levels.
The lessons follow the ISTD (Imperial Society of Teachers of Dancing), London syllabus covering Grades 1 to 6 as well as Vocational levels.
